How Attendance Works
The StaffBook records attendance when employees check in and check out. The system automatically calculates total working hours and marks attendance status (Present, Absent, Half Day).
Check In
Employee marks arrival via the web portal
Working
System tracks duration automatically
Check Out
Employee marks departure to finalize hours
Setting Up Shifts
Work shifts define expected working hours for attendance calculation:
- Go to Settings → Work Shifts
- Click Add New Shift
- Set shift name, start time, end time, and break duration
- Configure grace period (e.g., 15 minutes late tolerance)
- Assign the shift to employees or departments
Attendance Regularization
Sometimes employees forget to check in or there are system issues. Regularization allows correcting past attendance:
Employee submits a regularization request with the date and correct check-in/out times
Admin reviews the request in Attendance → Regularizations
On approval, the attendance record is updated with the corrected times
Attendance Reports
Generate comprehensive attendance reports from Reports → Attendance:
- • Daily Report: Who's present, absent, or on leave today
- • Monthly Summary: Attendance percentage per employee
- • Late Arrivals: Employees consistently arriving late
- • Overtime Report: Hours worked beyond standard shift
- • Export any report to Excel or PDF
